Currently engaged as a Fishing Engagement Facilitator, this candidate has spent the last 12 months educating the public on the new framework to support the overfishing of Sand Flathead. This has required them to understand the political landscape of the fishing industry, as well as have strong knowledge of the newly developed framework around the regulations for Sand Flathead. They have been so efficient in the current role, that the workload has now decreased, and they aren’t able to provide them with enough hours. Prior to this role, this candidate operated their own commercial fishing business, where they single-handedly ran all operations. This included account development, sales, marketing, logistics, client engagement, and invoicing. They supplied restaurants in Hobart such as the Agrarian Kitchen, Franks, and Bar Wa, and successfully increased their sales of calamari from $16 per kg to $25 per kg. This candidate demonstrates a passion for analysing data and patterns and has previously been engaged as a consultant with CBA. This required them to analyse the data of a fisherman who was requesting a loan from the bank, and they were tasked with analysing the species being fished, if it would be profitable, and whether it would be sustainable. They were required to compile lengthy written assessments for this contract. This candidate brings a wealth of transferrable skills and is very interested in any project work in the government space, where their skills can be utilised.
