An international mining house that is at the forefront of the extraction of coal is seeking an experienced HSE Coordinator to drive safety culture within the team.

Your new role

Reporting to the Project Manager, you will oversee the contractor’s workforce and have a strong focus on driving a safety culture within the project team.

• Conduct safety investigations, prepare reports and recommendations, and implement corrective and preventative actions.
• Facilitate contractor personnel onboarding and pass out.
• Maintain the practical/theoretical assessment records for the site.
• Manage Contractor Management System (CMS) compliance for the project
• Participate in the development of the project risk assessment and review processes
• Ensure contractor systems are in place to evidence critical control compliance and test these independently
• Ensure contractors implement the requirements of the site Safety and Health Management System (SHMS) and the commitments of the project/contract health and safety management plan
• Demonstrate safety leadership through field leadership processes and record outcomes.
• Ensure compliance with the relevant statutory requirements and legislation.
• Conduct safety/task observations & regular workplace inspections.
• Schedule and coordinate site-based safety and health programs.
• Maintain and monitor site-based risk assessment processes.
• Manage assessment completion details so TNA can be updated.
• Coaching of project construction personnel to optimise their own performance in the achievement of organisational and safety objectives.

What you'll need to succeed

To be successful, you will ideally have the following skill set:

• Certificate IV in Workplace Health and Safety required.
• The ability to work in a QLD Coal Mine (S11, medical)
• QLD Coal Supervisor course(S1, S2, S3)
• RIIRIS402D Facilitate Risk Management (G2) preferred
• A high level of written and verbal communication
• Proficient user of MS Office software inc. Word, Outlook, Excel
• Current driver’s licence
