ILS Technical Writer | Defence

Working on complex and engaging Defence projects
The role
Under direction from the ILS Manager, you will be responsible for researching, development, and providing publication-authoring services to the ILS Team. Your experience with professional writing will ensure all supporting ILS products will be delivered and sustained.

You’ll produce and maintain the technical documentation artefacts, including ILS Plans and Work Instructions through to endorsement.

Responsibilities
  • Plan, develop, write, and edit standard operating procedures and manuals.
  • Research and write technical design specifications and manuals.
  • Create product/process documentation, business process maps, and user manuals.
  • Ensure quality and consistency in document style and content.
  • Write complex technical content for various stakeholders, including non-technical and executive staff.
  • Develop, update, and manage technical and logistic documentation, including revisions and future scoped work.

Experience required
  • Hold a tertiary qualification or relevant industry experience of more than 8 years.
  • Have active NV1 security clearance and Australian Citizenship (NV2 desirable).
  • Demonstrated strong technical writing skills, and proven experience working in a technical writing position.
  • Proven experience working in a logistics environment in acquisition ILS, in-service logistics, or asset management.
  • Experience in the application management of Logistics Support Analysis (LSA) activities, with knowledge of the links between ILS, LSA, and Test & Evaluation/ Verification & Validation.
  • Experience writing in explanatory and procedural styles for multiple audiences, and proven ability to work independently.
