Experienced Registered Nurse Team Lead required for busy urgent care clinic in Dapto NSW

Hays are partnering with a National Healthcare provider who are looking for an experienced Registered Nurse Team Lead to join their Dapto team on a permanent basis.

Your new role

The Registered Nurse Team Lead is responsible for ensuring that patients presented to Urgent Care are appropriate for service, triaged promptly and provided with front line care in collaboration with medical practitioners. Duties of this position include:
Triage:
• Provide direction and leadership to UC Practice Nurses whilst working in collaboration with the Practice Nurse Manager
• Phone handover from referral pathways to determine appropriateness of referrals and document - escalating to medical practitioners as required
• Comprehensive triage of patients presented to the Clinic, ensuring the triage category selected is appropriate
• Provide emergency assessments of presenting patients as per the organisations policies and procedures
• Provide a prompt triage handover to UC practitioner
Direct patient activities:
• Complete patient care activities relating to the patients injury/illness as required by the Health Care Practitioner
• Care activities including but not limited to; vaccine administration and education, diagnostic tests for presentation, wound care, plastering, sutures removal and post procedure care, set-up and post procedure care, work cover injury management support, cannulation and IV antibiotics and fluids, suture wounds if applicable, phlebotomy if applicable and urinary catheter management
• Complete all care activities within scope of practice and organisational policies and procedures
• Provide health education to patients as required
• Provide medications including take home medications as directed by the HCP
Clinical administration:
• Liase with the Practice Nurse Manager to create and manage stock ordering
• Ensure all vaccinations, and urgent care medications are available, in date and ordered when running low
• Ensure follow-ups and referral documentation is provided to the patient prior to departing the clinic
• Provide comprehensive documentation for all patient files, ensuring supporting documentation is scanned and attached as required
• Remove broken equipment from service and escalate for repairs
Health & Safety:
• Ensure safe working practices, obligations and compliances are adhered to
• Report all incidents, injuries and hazards to management within 24 hours using the correct reporting procedures
People Management:
• Assist the Practice Management and Practice Nurse Manager with rostering, recruitment and performance management. Assist with onboarding training and supervision.
• Liaise with PM/PNM and treatment room/urgent care employees to ensure SOPs and policies are followed
• Escalate breaches to ensure safe delivery of care to patients
• Build professional relationships with patients to build rapport prior to procedures or treatments, escalating any patient concerns if required

What you'll need to succeed
• Degree qualified Registered Nurse with active AHPRA registration
• 5 years post-grad Nursing experience with at least 1 year of Emergency experience
• Emergency triage experience
• Experience in a primary care setting desirable
