This department is responsible for building policy and programmes to drive Australia's healthcare system and support our ageing citizens. Join a dynamic team that is responsible for managing legislation and regulations related to Australia's medicare services. This section plays a crucial role in the development and implementation of changes to a largely important scheme.

Your new role

• Manage Legislation and Regulations: Oversee the development and implementation of changes to healthcare regulations.
• Coordinate Regulatory Changes: Act as the central liaison with the Office of Parliamentary Counsel for drafting regulation changes.
• Draft Legislative Determinations: Prepare legislative determinations under the Health Insurance Act for executive approval.
• Update Information Systems: Ensure changes to healthcare items are accurately uploaded to internal and external systems.
• Engage with Stakeholders: Work closely with Services Australia to manage claims payments.

What you'll need to succeed

• Organisational Skills: Exceptional organisational, time management, and prioritisation skills.
• Leadership: Strong leadership abilities.
• Experience: Previous experience in legislative roles is beneficial but not essential, but experience in the APS is required.
• Qualifications: Legal qualifications are advantageous but not required. A baseline security clearance is required.
• Knowledge: Familiarity with the Australian healthcare system is a plus.
• Location: Must be based in Canberra
