Your new role
As the Senior Portfolio Finance Officer for the Mobility Portfolio, you will be responsible for supporting, monitoring, and analysing portfolio budgets and forecasts. Your financial expertise will be essential in advising senior leadership on the financial status across the portfolio, using clear and straightforward business language. You will collaborate with key stakeholders throughout the organisation, particularly within IS&T, to report on various aspects of project expenditure. You will ensure accurate and clear reporting on the financial status and overall health of the portfolio. Strong communication skills are essential for explaining complex financial concepts in clear, simple terms when being discussed. Experience working across the SA Government with a knowledge and understanding of its financial structures are highly advantageous. A calm demeanour is crucial to delivering exceptional service across the portfolio.
What you'll need to succeed
- A degree in Accounting, Commerce or equivalent.
- Demonstrated experience working as a Senior Portfolio Finance Officer or similar role and ideally within the State Government.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills to compile important documents, financial reports and present them in simple terms. This involves a high level of attention to detail, accuracy, and quality.
- Provide strategic advice and support to Directors and senior managers on financial matters including forecasting, reporting, analysis, risk management and planning.
- Work closely with Program Managers and the Portfolio Coordinator on the allocated budgets to capture relevant information and report on the status of the portfolio.
- Experience preparing financial statements.
