A central policy agency providing coordinated strategy and policy leadership for Australia's national and border security is seeking a highly skilled and motivated EL1 Commercial Senior Legal Officer to join their dynamic team, focusing on property law.
Your new role
As the EL1 Commercial Senior Legal Officer, you will be offered this opportunity via a 12 month non-ongoing or through a section 26 transfer from another APS agency. Working with a collaborative team you will be responsible for:
- Provide expert legal advice on property-related matters, including leasing, acquisitions, disposals, and property management.
- Draft, review, and negotiate complex property contracts and agreements.
- Ensure compliance with relevant legislation and government policies.
- Manage and mitigate legal risks associated with property transactions.
- Liaise with internal and external stakeholders, including government agencies, legal firms, and property consultants.
- Mentor and guide junior legal officers within the team.
What you'll need to succeed
In order to be successful in this position, you will have experience working in the APS and hold a baseline security clearance. You will have the following skills and attributes:
- A degree in Law and admission as a legal practitioner in Australia.
- Extensive experience in property law, preferably within a government or commercial environment.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and negotiation abilities.
- Proven ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
- A high level of integrity and professionalism.
