About the Role: Our commercial client is seeking an experienced
RPG Developer to join their team to support ongoing projects and ensure the smooth operation of their IBM iseries systems. The ideal candidate will bring expertise in RPG programming, with a focus on RPG IV (RPGLE), and a deep understanding of AS/400 (IBM i) environments.
RPG Developer to join their team to support ongoing projects and ensure the smooth operation of their IBM iseries systems. The ideal candidate will bring expertise in RPG programming, with a focus on RPG IV (RPGLE), and a deep understanding of AS/400 (IBM i) environments.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain RPG programs RPG, CL on an AS400 or IBM iSeries.
- Analyze user requirements and create program specifications
- Debug and resolve application issues, ensuring optimal performance
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop solutions that meet business needs
- Integrate IBM i applications with other systems, providing high-quality solutions for complex business needs
- Provide technical support and expertise for IBM i systems
- Document coding and processes, ensuring that best practices and standards are followed
- This role will require a developer who can manage, design, and develop custom applications, as well as enhance existing ones, working closely with the business and IT teams.
Qualifications:
- Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience with IBM RPG programming, including RPGLE and RPG IV
- Strong understanding of IBM iSeries (AS/400) environment and OS concepts
- Proficient in CL, SQL, and DDS for IBM i
- Experience with SQL database management and integration with RPG applications
- Ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex programming issues
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work independently or within a team
- Proven experience working with insurance, biotech/pharma, banking, distribution type businesses
