Hays Cairns have partnered with Australia's leading Air Freight Forwarder to seek a motivated and experienced Freight Forwarding professional to join their team in Cairns. In this role, you will play a crucial role in their operations, liaising with clients and carriers to ensure the efficient and timely transportation of goods. As a Freight Agent, you’ll play a crucial role in coordinating the movement of freight across, air, sea, and land transportation. Your key responsibilities include negotiating rates and terms with carriers and service providers, handling essential documentation, and providing top-notch customer service by addressing client inquiries and resolving issues. You will also be working with the national team to enhance logistics processes and identify areas for improvement, as well as maintaining accurate records and data to ensure compliance with industry regulations.

You will have a minimum of one year of experience in freight forwarding or logistics. You should be well-versed in freight forwarding processes, including customs clearance and documentation. Strong communication and interpersonal skills are crucial for interacting with clients, carriers, and other stakeholders. Proficiency in Cargowise software is desirable. You should have strong problem-solving and decision-making skills to manage complex logistics issues, along with a keen eye for detail and a dedication to high-quality work. The ability to adapt and thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment is also essential.
