One of our clients is seeking a highly skilled Principal Data Engineer to join the dynamic team. This role is crucial for delivering quality-assured data products and managing the broader data architecture. You will lead a team of Data Engineers and work closely with Business Analysts and Business Partners to drive data initiatives.

Your new role

• Strategically plan and deliver data engineering workloads, data analytics products, and solutions.
• Provide high-level technical consulting and leadership to departmental staff.
• Lead business improvement and process re-engineering exercises.
• Ensure reliability and consistency of service across multiple projects.
• Develop and implement innovative business strategies, policies, and procedures.
• Maintain operational networks and provide expert advice to support effective service delivery.
• Manage the delivery of complex data projects and mentor a young team.

What you'll need to succeed

• Candidates should have full working rights in Australia (mandate).
• The candidate should be currently in Adelaide, Australia (mandate).
• 5+ years of experience with data engineering and data warehousing.
• Proficiency in Databricks, Azure, DevOps, and data ingestion processes.
• Experience with BI and reporting layers.
• Proven experience in managing teams and delivering data projects.
• Knowledge of cloud technologies (AWS/MS Azure) is advantageous.
• Appian certification is highly regarded.
• Experience with other programming languages (e.g., .Net, C#, Java) is a bonus.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
