Major Developments Planner

About the Role:
My client is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Major Development Planner to join their dynamic team. This role is pivotal in assessing major planning applications, particularly in growth areas, and ensuring the timely provision of infrastructure in accordance with approved plans.
Key Responsibilities:
Assess major planning applications, particularly in growth areas.
Assist in the development and ongoing administration of the developer contributions system.
Act as a representative on management committees, industry and government advisory committees, and at the Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal (VCAT) as required.
Build strong and cooperative relationships to facilitate appropriate major developments.
Provide input into strategic planning projects to ensure a seamless transition to the development assessment stage.
Prepare reports and documentation related to planning permit applications.
Provide advice to the public, developers, and clients regarding planning schemes, policies, strategies, and procedures.
Negotiate with applicants and advisers to resolve development issues satisfactorily.
Qualifications and Experience:
A tertiary qualification in town planning or a related discipline with substantial planning experience, preferably in a local government environment.
Extensive experience and skills in assessing large and complex development proposals to achieve quality outcomes.
Familiarity with government legislation affecting urban development.
Experience in growth area planning, including the implementation of Infrastructure and Development Contributions Plans.
A current valid Victorian driving licence.
Key Selection Criteria:
A tertiary qualification in town planning or a related discipline with relevant planning experience, preferably in a local government environment.
Proven project management skills, including highly developed skills in planning and managing workloads to meet statutory timeframes and achieve quality outcomes.
Experience and skills in assessing large and complex development proposals to achieve quality outcomes.
Highly developed interpersonal skills, including verbal and written communication, liaison, and facilitation.
A thorough understanding of the Victorian planning system, including the Victoria Planning Provisions
