Your primary purpose lies in ensuring the seamless integration of design processes from initial planning to project completion. You are responsible for guiding and coordinating design teams, offering expertise on build feasibility, and aligning design choices with project objectives.
Your new role
- Manage the design process from pre-planning through construction, ensuring designs meet project goals and client requirements throughout.
- Provide guidance and advice on design implications and build feasibility issues, offering expertise on design choices and identifying any feasibility issues that may arise during construction.
- Offer recommendations and insights concerning value management and project specifications, aligning project specs with objectives and minimising costs.
- Offer advice on legislative compliance and the latest design standards, ensuring designs adhere to regulations.
- Provide risk assessments and manage commercial risks in design outputs to minimise negative impact.
- Implement sustainable design practices, integrating environmental and sustainability standards into the design process.
- Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with clients, ensuring their needs are met throughout the design process.
- Continuously review and refine internal design processes to enhance efficiency and reduce redundancy.
- Address conflicts or issues promptly, working with teams to find effective solutions.
- Stay updated on new design technologies and industry trends to incorporate innovative methods.
- Oversee the comprehensive documentation of the design process, generating reports and documentation for stakeholders.
- Lead and coordinate on-site design detailing and resolve design issues in consultation with the delivery team to ensure smooth project execution.
- Provide procurement advice around scope requirements and technical advice to support project needs and ensure alignment with design objectives.
What you'll need to succeed
- Bachelor of Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, Project Management or equivalent.
- 10 years of experience in Design Management for commercial construction projects.
- Proven Leadership and Team Management Skills.
- Proven experience in projects valued at $150 million.
- Strong commercial acumen and analysis capability.
- Demonstrated excellence in interpersonal and negotiating skills.
- High level of attention to detail and numerical analysis and interpretation, with abilities at applying critical thinking to complex analytical situations.
- Strong Knowledge of Regulatory Compliance and Design Standards.
- Experience in Early Contractor Involvement (ECI) processes to find value for clients and lead collaboration amongst consultants, authorities, and project stakeholders.
