Technical Lead Structural Engineer - Quality Assurance - Residential Structural Engineering
This role is to support the ICA Best Practice on Expert Reports, our client requires in-house Structural Engineering expertise to thoroughly assess and evaluate the Expert reports for
claims decisions with a focus on property affected by earthquakes.
- Conduct thorough reviews of structural engineering reports related to general insurance claims, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and compliance with industry standards and regulations.
- Collaborate with industry experts and claims adjusters to understand the context and specifics of each claim, providing feedback and recommendations for improvement where necessary.
- Perform stress testing and validation of expert assessments to identify potential risks, discrepancies, or areas requiring further investigation.
- Develop and implement quality assurance protocols and procedures to enhance the reliability and consistency of expert reports within the division.
- Provide expert guidance and support to the claims team on complex structural engineering issues, leveraging extensive experience and technical knowledge
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry trends, technologies, and regulatory changes affecting structural engineering and insurance claims.
- Prepare detailed reports and presentations for internal stakeholders, summarising findings and recommending actions to mitigate risks and improve claim outcomes.
- Participate in training and development initiatives to enhance the technical expertise and quality assurance capabilities of the Claims Assessing team.
What you'll need to succeed
- Bachelor’s degree in Structural Engineering or a related field; a Master’s degree or professional engineering certification is highly desirable.
- A minimum of 10 years of experience in structural engineering, with a focus on residential houses and commercial projects.
- Proven experience in quality assurance, risk assessment, or claims evaluation within the insurance industry is preferred.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex engineering data and make informed decisions.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of effectively collaborating with diverse teams and stakeholders.
- Detail-oriented with a commitment to accuracy and quality in all aspects of work.
