Our client based in the CBD is seeking a Senior Business Coordinator for a 6-month assignment. This role involves ensuring effective and efficient liaison services between the Department and the Minister. Responsibilities include providing advice on sensitive and policy matters, maintaining key relationships and networks, and enhancing agency executive and business processes to support the Department’s goals.
Your new role
Your new role as Senior Business Coordinator will see you manage complex Ministerial and Executive correspondence, as well as Cabinet and Parliamentary functions and services across the Department.
- Ensure high standards and accuracy in correspondence matters, including quality assurance.
- Coordinate with divisions within department to maintain a consistent approach to Ministerial, Executive, Cabinet, and Parliamentary Correspondence.
- Use judgement and discretion in responding to emails and inquiries on behalf of the Department, delegating tasks to officers for timely responses.
- Provide excellent customer service and facilitate effective information exchange.
- Support the broader Office of the Chief Executive team as needed.
What you'll need to succeed
To be successful in the role you will have
- Understanding of government operations at the Cabinet, Ministerial, Parliamentary, and departmental levels.
- Knowledge of the role of a Ministerial Office and its relationship with the Department.
- Familiarity with current records and electronic document management principles and methodologies.
- Knowledge of records management legislation, standards, policies, and practices relevant to State Government departments.
- Strong IT and computing skills, with proficiency in Microsoft Windows/MS Office and analytical abilities using spreadsheets and databases.
- Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to consult, liaise, influence, negotiate, and manage conflict with tact and diplomacy.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and use discretion and tact in sensitive environments.
- Strong organisational, administrative, and customer service skills, especially under pressure.
- Experience managing large workloads, handling interruptions and change, and maintaining high-quality work under pressure.
- Experience working collaboratively with senior and ministerial staff to achieve strategic objectives and policy priorities.
- Proven ability to establish strong working relationships, coordinate, and influence others to meet time-critical and sensitive work requirements.
