Senior Cloud Engineer 6-Month Contract with the potential to extend

Hays has partnered with a thriving state government department to appoint a Senior Cloud Engineer to an initial 6-month contract, with the flexibility of hybrid work.

Your new role
As the Senior Cloud Engineer, you will be part of a senior engineering team of professionals with the responsibilities of liaising with internal and external stakeholders across government entities. You will be responsible for selection of appropriate cloud services based on requirements.

Your day-to-day responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
  • Design, deployment, and migration of systems for IaaS, PaaS, and SaaS environments.
  • Design and implement Solution Architectures utilising private, AWS and Azure public cloud services.
  • Ability to work within government frameworks.
  • Adopt a modern approach to working with technology, i.e. Automation via Infrastructure as Code.

What you'll need to succeed
To be successful in attaining this role, you will have:
  • Minimum 5 years experience designing and implementing cloud solutions.
  • Broad Infrastructure experience across VMware, Windows, Linux and networking.
  • Very strong experience configuring and securing Azure cloud services. AWS will be highly regarded.
  • Strong Terraform knowledge.
  • Experience within the architecture domains (business, information, technology and application).
  • Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Strong communication and customer service skills, including the ability to influence key stakeholders through collaboration.
  • Mentoring operational staff in supporting new technologies and solutions.
