Your new company

Hays is partnering with the Motor Accident Insurance Board to source an outstanding General Claims Officer. MAIB is dedicated to delivering exceptional service and support to individuals affected by motor vehicle accidents. This is an exciting opportunity to join their passionate team, providing quality, comprehensive claims management services.

Your new role

A full-time, permanent role, with a competitive salary package. Based in the Launceston CBD, MAIB is an organisation that focusses on supporting Tasmanians through some of the most challenging times in their lives. As a Claims officer, you will be responsible for providing outstanding client support, guided by the MAIB values of Connection, Compassion, and Commitment.

You will be the essential first point-of-contact for external clients via phone and email engagement, working cooperatively and effectively within a multi-disciplinary team environment, managing a variable workload. Your key responsibilities will include:
  • Providing outstanding client service
  • Working with our clients to understand their individual circumstances and how we can assist
  • Assessing and processing claims in accordance with the Motor Accidents (Liabilities and Compensation) Act 1973, Motor Accidents (Liabilities and Compensation) Regulations 2020 and MAIB policies and procedures
  • Engaging with stakeholders
  • Accurate and timely documentation and record-keeping
  • Working with confidential information

What you'll need to succeed

You’ll have demonstrated experience as a Claims Officer or similar, along with:

  • Knowledge and/or experience in claims/portfolio management
  • High level of attention to detail
  • Good understanding of processes, and ability to pick up new procedures quickly
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills
  • Capacity to actively participate and work collaboratively within workplace teams
  • Demonstrated capacity to prioritise and complete assigned deliverables
