Hays has partnered with a Local Government Area located on the south west fringe of the Greater Sydney area to find an experienced Environmental Health Officer to join their compliance team on a 6-month contract. This council is dedicated to the best environmental outcomes for their rate payers.
Your new role
Investigate complaints and collaborate with the Team Leader Environmental Health to assess applications and referrals in accordance with the following legislation:
- Local Government Act 1993 (NSW)
- Environmental Planning and Assessment Act 1979
- Protection of the Environment Operations Act 1997
- Public Health Act 2010
- Food Act 2003
- Swimming Pools Act 1992 & Swimming Pools Amendment Act 2012
- POEO – Underground Petroleum Storage Systems (UPSS) Regulations 2019
Additionally, ensure compliance with other relevant Acts and Regulations as necessary.
What you'll need to succeed The successful candidate will need to demonstrate the following:
- Tertiary qualifications in Environmental Health or a relevant discipline.
- Problem-solving skills and the ability to work with minimal supervision in a team environment, particularly concerning public health requirements and associated regulatory activities, enforcement, and assessment processes.
- Current Class C Driver’s Licence.
- Experience and knowledge in the operation of on-site sewage management systems (advantageous)
