Your new role
As Senior Legal Counsel, you will lead legal and commercial matters during a transformative period, playing a key role in the organization’s transition to a State Business Corporation. Reporting to the General Counsel, you will provide high-level legal advice, oversee procurement strategies, and manage compliance frameworks. You will also guide external legal advisors and support the broader team in achieving project goals.
Key responsibilities include:- Delivering strategic legal advice on corporate and commercial matters.
- Managing and developing procurement and legal policies.
- Overseeing Freedom of Information (FOI) requests and privacy compliance.
- Coordinating legal input for Ministerial briefings and cabinet submissions.
- Collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to align legal strategies with organisational goals.
What you'll need to succeed
You are a highly skilled legal professional with demonstrated experience in managing complex legal issues within government or large-scale projects. Your ability to provide strategic guidance and navigate procurement, legal, and regulatory frameworks will be essential to success.
Key qualifications and skills:- Admission or eligibility to practice law in Victoria or equivalent jurisdiction.
- Proven expertise in commercial and corporate legal matters, including procurement processes.
- Strong experience in drafting and implementing procurement delivery documents.
- Knowledge of government legal processes and regulatory compliance.
- Experience with FOI and privacy legislation (preferred but not essential).
