Grants Capacity Building Officer

12-Month Contract for a Grant Building Capability Officer in South Brisbane

Hays has partnered with a local council in Queensland to recruit a grants building capability officer based in south Brisbane.

Your new role
We are seeking a grants building capability officer to enhance the skills and capabilities of local community organizations in identifying relevant grants and preparing competitive applications. This role aims to improve the relevance and quality of applications to Council grant programs, empowering local groups to secure funding for more events, projects, equipment, and infrastructure within the community.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Build community capacity and resilience by developing skills in organisational and project planning, grant writing, and reporting, and providing funding information and advice.
  • Coordinate and deliver information sessions, workshops, and training to enhance local organizations' ability to research, identify, and apply for grants.
  • Provide one-on-one support to organizations for preparing and reviewing Council grant applications, including regular and ad-hoc community support.
  • Encourage and support community groups to apply for state, federal, and private grants, and report on successful funding brought into the city.
  • Assist the community in identifying and navigating internal and external funding opportunities and general grant inquiries.
  • Help organizations navigate internal approvals and support for Council-funded events, projects, and initiatives.
  • Manage operational budgets as directed by the Community Grants Coordinator.

    What you'll need to succeed
    To be successful in the role, you will demonstrate:
  • Qualification and/or equivalent experience in project management, community, or local government disciplines.
  • Strong project management and organisational skills, with the ability to develop plans, coordinate actions, gain cooperation, and deliver outcomes within agreed timeframes.
  • Highly developed analytical skills, with the ability to autonomously plan, prioritise, and organise work to achieve outcomes and meet deadlines, including managing competing demands and multiple projects.
