A local council based in South Brisbane is looking for a finance administration / customer service expert to join their Revenue and Property Team.

Your new role

The purpose of this role is to assist the current team members, undertake rates operational activities, including data entry and administration of rates assessments and properties, responding to customer enquiries and providing support to Revenue & Property Senior Officer and Team Leader. Tasks include but are not limited to:


  • Update rate files by importing new costs, compiling rate adjustments, and processing approved journals and refunds.
  • Conduct rate reporting and update approved rate adjustments.
  • Perform operational registrations, including printing title transfers and conducting search checks.
  • Process monthly reconciliations.
  • Communicate effectively with customers through inbound calls, emails, and correspondence. This includes handling address changes, responding to ratepayer queries, processing pensioner applications, discount requests, payment transfers, refund requests, rates and charge investigations, providing rate estimates for new developments, and addressing enquiries about street locations and property descriptions.

What you'll need to succeed

  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and adept problem-solving abilities.
  • Capable of thriving both in collaborative team settings and when working independently.
  • Demonstrated success in fast-paced environments.
  • Extensive experience in customer service and administrative roles.
  • Confident in effectively gathering and communicating information.
  • Enthusiastic "can-do" attitude.
  • Proficient with the Microsoft Suite, including basic experience with Excel.
