Our client requires an experienced Financial Accountant to join their large and busy finance team on a 6-month contract. This position is based in Fremantle and is close to public transport and parking.

Your new role

This role is responsible for managing and analysing financial data, to ensure the accuracy and compliance of all financial records. You will also be heavily involved in Financial Policy and Statutory reporting.

• Prepare and analyse financial statements, ensuring compliance with Australian Accounting Standards and relevant statutory requirements.
• Develop and manage budgets, forecast financial performance, and provide financial insights to support decision-making.
• Maintain and develop internal controls to ensure the integrity of financial data and compliance with audit recommendations.
• Manage tax payments and ensure compliance with tax regulations.
• Assist with internal and external audits, including preparing necessary documentation and responding to audit queries.
• Continuously review and update accounting policies and procedures to align with changing standards and guidelines.
• Provide financial advice and support to various departments and stakeholders within the government.

What you'll need to succeed

• CPA or CA certification is required.
• Previous experience in financial accounting, preferably within the public sector.
• Strong ability to analyse financial data and generate reports.
• High level of accuracy in financial record-keeping and reporting.
• Ability to clearly present financial information to non-financial stakeholders.
• Familiarity with government financial systems and software.
