Industrial Relations Advisor

IR Specialist role, 12 months fixed term role based in western Sydney

The Industrial Relations Advisor is responsible for offering expert employment and industrial relations (ER/IR) guidance to ensure compliance with legislation and best practices across this education organisation. Based in western Sydney, this is a fixed-term contract for 12 months.

Your new role

  • Providing advice on and implementing employment terms in line with enterprise agreements, awards, and employment laws.
  • Collaborating with the Employment Relations Manager and ER team members to lead and support enterprise agreement negotiations, advocacy, and discussions with unions and other external entities.
  • Keeping track of the industrial and employment relations environment and offering strategic advice to maintain compliance and adapt to changes.
  • Assisting the Employment Relations Manager in overseeing employment conditions and reducing industrial disputes, including fostering professional relationships with unions.
  • Maintaining records related to Industrial Relations and other pertinent materials.
  • Ensuring all policies, procedures, and guidelines are up-to-date and compliant.

What you'll need to succeed

You will need to be confident in IR, employee relations cases and strong stakeholder customer service. Strong communication and negotiation skills. A team player with an exceptional work ethic who has demonstrated skills in collaboration.
Contribute to the delivery and continuous improvement of strategic initiatives and operational plans.
Engage in continuous learning and contribute positively to a collaborative and respectful working environment aligned with the organisation's culture and values.
