Your new role
You will work with a collaborative high-performing team while engaging closely with the internal business and will be responsible for the following:
- Manage the day-to-day delivery of legal services and provide support to major projects across the business, such as strategic growth opportunities and regulatory change projects
- Provide advice on legal matters and advise on changes in law and regulatory requirements which have an impact on business
- Drafting, reviewing and assisting the business with the drafting and negotiation of commercial agreements
- Project management and other related tasks necessary to help the organisation meet its legal/regulatory obligations
- Oversee an effective contract management framework
- Oversee company secretarial type matters
- Providing strategic advice on legal and regulatory matters to the business on a needs basis including interpretation of legislation
- Supporting business areas to fulfil their regulatory and legislation obligations
What you'll need to succeed
- Ideally between 5-8 years PAE
- Admitted to practice as a lawyer in Australia
- Experience practising in insurance and/or financial services law
- Proven ability to understand and interpret legislation, in particular exposure to competition and consumer law, Privacy Act, Intellectual Property, Work Health & Safety and Corporations law
- Strong legal drafting and research skills
- Advanced negotiation and influencing skills
- Strong stakeholder management and interpersonal skills
- Critical thinking ability and strong attention to detail
