Are you an experienced Fitter/Welder looking for work in the south side of Canberra? This company wants to know about you! This family-owned and operated business has a great pipeline of ongoing waste management work for the foreseeable future. They need an experienced fitter/welder to join their team in a permanent role and maintain their machines and mobile plant equipment.
Your new role
Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, you will work alongside the workshop team to perform scheduled and preventative maintenance. You will ensure inventory management of spare parts and also the return and lock up of tools in the workshop each day. Your maintenance work will include tasks such as fabrication, welding repairs, servicing machines and conveyor belts and general repairs. You will also be responsible for communicating with the manager and your team for prioritisation of work, repairs and cleaning of the workshop.
What you'll need to succeed
As a Fitter/Welder you will have extensive experience maintaining machinery or vehicles. You will also:
Have experience welding - a Cert III in Engineering will be held in high regard
Have experience in mechanical maintenance - a qualification in automotive maintenance or fitting and turning will be held in high regard
Have a valid driver's licence
Be prepared for laborious duties as this role involves a lot of manual handling
Have a great attitude towards work to ensure you are punctual, able to work autonomously and safely.
What you'll get in return
This company is offering above award pay rates of $45 - $55 per hour plus OT penalties when you work OT. You will also get:
2 x 30 minute lunch breaks (unpaid) daily
Monday to Friday hours of 7am-4pm with a preference of working 1 hour OT each day.
Opportunity to work shifts on Saturdays as well
You may also have use of a company vehicle to attend areas of the site
