Your New Role
As the Director of Industrial Relations, you will be a key player in the executive leadership team, shaping the future of the industry. You will lead the organisation's industrial relations strategy, employment law initiatives, and policy advocacy efforts. This role involves providing expert guidance on employment and industrial relations matters, managing high-level policy development, and driving impactful advocacy initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage industrial relations and employment law initiatives.
- Provides expert advice on employment contracts, Enterprise Agreements, and Workplace Policies.
- Represent the organisation in national industrial relations forums.
- Develop and maintain industry-standard rates of pay, the Rostered Days Off (RDO) calendar, and the HR Toolkit.
- Support members with contract and workplace safety-related queries.
- Develop high-quality submissions, issue briefings, and government correspondence.
- Represent the organisation in government meetings, policy discussions, and industry forums.
- Oversee regulatory education for members and coordinate webinars.
- Manage and lead a small team, including a Workplace Relations and Legal Advisor and Paralegal.
What You’ll Need to Succeed
- Degree qualified in industrial relations, law or a related field.
- 5–8 years of experience in industrial relations and/or employment law.
- Strong knowledge of the Australian industrial relations framework and experience in Fair Work Commission advocacy.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships with diverse stakeholders.
- High level of adaptability and a proactive approach to supporting members.
- Experience working with chambers of commerce or business associations is highly desirable.
