A global mining conglomerate with operations throughout the world are seeking a Telecommunications Project Engineer for rolling 9 month contract. This will see you work from their Brisbane CBD based office along with working from home arrangements available and occasional travel to sites throughout the state.

With their global headquarters located in Australia, this international conglomerate conducts mining, energy and resource extraction services across multiple continents and countries. Domestically, with offices in nearly every major Australian capital, over the past few years they have been building their presence throughout the state of Queensland by replicating their successful global business model locally. As part of this they have grown to be Australia’s largest company and the worlds biggest mining company (both in terms of revenue and head count).

Due in part to their ever-growing success, they are seeking to hire a Telecommunications Project Engineer to work from their corporate office in Brisbane’s CBD. Working as part of their multi-disciplinary Operational Technology (OT) Networking Team, you will be part of
large-scale site based LTE deployments followed by 5G rollouts that power the OT in use at mines throughout Queensland.

Working in a hybrid working model (with up to three days working from home) you will provide expert guidance on the design, build and delivery of these projects. Specifically, you will advise on the build of new cell towers, carrier expansions, asset relocations (towers, satellites, etc), LTE designs, network configuration and fibre optic lays (to name a few).

This will include the creation and delivery of high- & low-level designs, technical diagrams, cable schedules and other relevant documentation as per the project. Alongside this, you will need knowledge of various OT solutions (Scada platforms, autonomous mining vehicles, etc) and how these integrate with enterprise networks.

Not siloed into just your own team, you will also engage with various corporate and site-based teams to discuss project requirements, designs, topologies and solution implementations to ensure minimal downtime to the organisations operations.

Due to the length and variety of these projects, this contract will initially be 9 months however may be extended for the right individual. From this, whilst this role is to be based in this organisations corporate offices in Brisbane’s CBD, there will be short infrequent travel to sites throughout QLD to work in situ.
