Hays are partnering with a government owned authority who are looking for an experienced Principal Engineer to join their Electrical Design team on a 12 month temporary basis. This is an exciting opportunity with a wide scope of duties including quality planning, design/commissioning services and providing technical support in process planning, design and construction.

Your new role
• Oversee the development and delivery of complex designs and reports to solve engineering problems, utilising in-house and external resources as necessary
• Prepare briefs for consultant engagements, evaluate proposals, and report conclusions and recommendations
• Manage project planning, design, and definition by consultants, ensuring outputs meet requirements, design criteria, client needs, and agreed timelines and costs
• Review tenders and provide technical recommendations
• Provide advice and liaise with internal customers, external suppliers, service agencies, consultants, industry regulators, and agencies
• Represent the organisation in consultations and negotiations with government agencies, local authorities, consultants, developers, and community groups

What you'll need to succeed
• Degree in a relevant engineering discipline
• Extensive experience in engineering design and construction
• Expert knowledge of engineering principles and practices
• Strong knowledge of water-related infrastructure assets and systems
• In-depth understanding of statutory requirements, regulations, and national standards related to the design, approval, and development of electrical systems for water infrastructure assets
• Proven ability to analyse infrastructure assets to evaluate effectiveness and present viable recommendations
