Government organisation seeking IT Infrastructure Lead (2IC to Manager)

Your new company

A leading and crucial state government organisation that supports the lives of millions across Queensland are seeking an IT Infrastructure Lead. Being the organisations Infrastructure Teams second in command (2IC), you will assist leadership with vendor management, technical road maps and technical projects (to name a few)! Working from their headquarters in Newstead (along with working from home), you will be supporting a variety of technologies and projects that underpin the running and operation of this organisation.

Your new role

Established many years ago to service the needs of Queenslanders all throughout the state, this Brisbane headquartered government organisation are undergoing several technological based initiatives to enhance the lives of those living across the region.
Working within the Digital Technology Directorate and reporting directly into the Infrastructure Director, your new role will see you work within a highly specialised and multi-disciplinary team of Infrastructure, Systems & Project Engineers. With this teams focus on maintaining, upgrading and deploying technical solutions to be used across the organisation, your role will combine both technical and managerial duties.

From a technical perspective, you will resolve high level issues if/when they arise. However, aside from this, most of your role will be applying your technical experience in a managerial capacity.

Overseeing two members of staff (that you will manage from a technical perspective), creating the technical documentation, managing IT vendors, overseeing projects, establishing their technical road map and assisting leadership in other high-level duties are all such examples.

What you'll need to succeed

You will need experience/knowledge across (in no particular order) the following:
  • The Microsoft eco system (Windows 11, SCCM, Intune, Azure, etc)
  • Security and firewall technology including ISO27001 Essential 8 remediation
  • SAN management and support
  • Virtualization (VMWare and Hyper-V)
  • Disaster recovery processes and technology
  • Networking infrastructure design and maintenance
  • Vendor Management
  • Technical documentation
  • Road map creation
  • Work with individuals across all levels of an organisation
  • Clear and perfect communication skills (both spoken and written)
  • Full Australian working rights
  • Currently residing in Australia (those outside will not be considered)

What you'll get in return

You will be offered an initial contract up until December 24th 2025 (with potential to extend or go permanent) with flexible working arrangements paying AO7 (85.31 per hour plus super) with a leading government organisation in Brisbane (Newstead).
