Your New Role and OrganisationAn exceptional opportunity has arisen for an experienced lawyer to join a dynamic legal team within a major government department. This role is responsible for providing specialist legal advice on a range of complex matters, including occupational health and safety, workers compensation, FOI, privacy disputes, and coronial inquiries. You will manage litigation across various jurisdictions and provide mentoring to junior lawyers and law clerks.
What You'll Need to Succeed- Strong technical legal expertise: Proven experience in regulatory, government, and administrative law, with a focus on litigation, education law, and complex disputes.
- Excellent communication skills: Ability to provide clear, strategic, and practical legal advice to a range of stakeholders, including school principals and departmental executives.
- Leadership and mentoring abilities: Experience in leading and mentoring junior lawyers, fostering a collaborative and supportive team environment.
- Stakeholder management: Demonstrated capability in managing relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including briefing external lawyers.
- Compassion and sensitivity: Ability to handle sensitive matters with empathy, particularly in areas involving child safety and mental health.
