This The Federal Government department is responsible for developing and implementing Policies and initiatives to promote more sustainable, productive, internationally competitive and profitable Australian agricultural, food and fibre industries, safeguarding Australia's animal and plant health.


Your new role

  • Ensuring the business continuity management framework is compliant with the Public Performance and Accountability Act 2013, the Commonwealth Risk Management Policy, relevant standards and guidelines

  • Implementing the department’s annual business continuity program schedule to ensure that business continuity plans support the department’s critical functions

  • Responding to business disruption events as they occur

  • Providing support and coordination of whole-of-government arrangements in accordance with the Australian Government Crisis Management Framework

  • Managing productive relationships across the organisation; with counterparts in other government departments and at the whole-of-government crisis coordination level

  • Assisting with communication of departmental business continuity management policies and procedures via email, briefings, and intranet updates

  • Participating in discussions at team, branch, and divisional meetings

  • Contributing to continuous improvement within the section

  • Managing a team member



What you'll need to succeed
  • Mandatory experience in Business Continuity

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to liaise with stakeholders nationally in a changing environment and a culturally diverse and geographically dispersed workforce in a business continuity context.

  • The ability to think innovatively in completing tasks and problem-solving.

  • Organisational and time managements skills with high level attention to detail, and capability to adapt to shifting priorities.

  • Ability to independently plan and conduct activities against an agreed scope of work.

  • The ability to work in both a team environment, contributing to team outcomes and working autonomously, showing initiative and good judgement.

  • Ability to think strategically and have good problem-solving skills to deal with complex matters in consultation with managers and under direction.
