I am partnered with a Federal Government Agency, in the heart of Geelong to recruit an APS6 Senior Project Officer for a full-time temporary assignment for a 12 month contract with the potential to extend.


Your new role

The APS6 Senior Project Officer is a key team member responsible for leading and managing team priorities and workflows. This role involves providing detailed technical, professional, policy, and operational support and advice on complex problems. You will coordinate and assist in planning, program, and project management through project frameworks and reporting development to support key objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain crucial project documents tracking progress and reporting insights, including dashboards, business case preparation, registers, and action item logs.
  • Identify and capture risks and issues, recording them in a register/log and managing them regularly with Branch leadership.
  • Maintain the project schedule, monitor deadlines, and report any potential delays to Branch leadership.
  • Lead and support special projects, identifying opportunities for continuous improvement in data capture and reporting.
  • Maintain project documents, including reporting dashboards, databases, registers, document management, and version control of project delivery framework tools and templates.
  • Assist in maintaining a view of programs and contribute to planning and managing changes affecting staff, participants, partners, and other stakeholders.
  • Organise meetings, create minutes, prepare regular email correspondence, and formal communication regarding the project.

What you'll need to succeed

To be successful as the APS6 Project Officer:
  • Experience supporting a team in a fast paced, changing and complex environment
  • Demonstrated time management skills and attention to detail
  • Experience supporting change, projects or continuous improvement initiatives
  • Experience coordinating workshop and engagement/co-design activities and communications
  • Demonstrated strong experience with MS suite
  • Demonstrated experience with Jira or similar
  • Demonstrated experience with SharePoint document management and publishing
  • Experience managing multiple calendars
  • Experience working with diverse stakeholders
  • Must be an Australian Citizen
  • Experience within the Disability Sector is highly desirable.
