Bushland Maintenance Officer

Our client is a leading Eastern Suburb Council. We are looking for a experienced Bushland Maintenance Officers to join their team and play an important role in protecting, preserving and enhancing the Council’s bushland reserves.


Your new role

  • Operate items of plant, equipment and undertake associated manual tasks associated with the city’s Parks operational requirements.
  • Assist in the preparation and planning of revegetation works programs.
  • Perform a range of revegetation, maintenance, development and associated works including
    • Identify indigenous plants and weeds;
    • Control of weeds using chemical, mechanical and manual methods; and
    • Assist with the collection, preparation and storage of indigenous plant seed.
  • Assist with the planning and facilitation of community participation and reserve interpretation services.
  • Plan activities and other related recreational and educational activities.
  • Comply with all codes of practice and safe operating procedures.

What you'll need to succeed

  • Certificate III or IV in Conservation Land Management or related field or equivalent experience, preferably including delivering environmental education programs.
  • Demonstrated ability to operate a variety of Parks Unit related plant and equipment in a safe and efficient manner including undertaking routine daily maintenance of minor plant and equipment.
  • Demonstrated ability to work diligently and enthusiastically with minimal supervision in order to meet desired service outcomes within nominated schedules.
  • Demonstrated ability to work cooperatively in a team environment, including high levels of reliability and punctuality.
  • Demonstrated ability to interact with the public in a clear and courteous manner, in order to present a positive image for the Council, with a strong focus on customer service excellence.
  • Current Victorian Driver’s Licence as well as Satisfactory Police and Working with Children Checks.
  • Demonstrated Good Written and Oral communication skills.
  • First Aid Certificate
