EL1 Program Manager

This well-known Federal Government Department contributes to Australia's economy by creating opportunities and driving better outcomes through access to quality education and learning, is seeking an EL1 Program Manager to join a dynamic team dedicated to increasing Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander children’s and families’ engagement with health and early childhood education and care (ECEC). The Connected Beginnings program supports about 24,800 children at 50 sites across Australia, integrating local support services.

Your new role

As the EL1 Program Manager, you will support the Connected Beginnings team in managing the grants program. You will work closely with backbone teams, predominantly First Nations staff and/or organisations within rural, remote, and very remote locations across Australia. Your role will involve liaising with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, communities, and service providers, ensuring cultural competency and effective communication.

What you'll need to succeed

To be successful in your new role, you will have experience in program management activities, including providing advice to grantees and program stakeholders. You will also have:
  • Ability to engage with internal and external stakeholders, including Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander peoples.
  • Strong data analysis and reporting skills.
  • Excellent written and communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively, culturally sensitively, and positively.
  • Ability to exercise judgement, work independently, and collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Understanding of the strengths and challenges faced by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, including children and families.
  • Demonstrated planning and organisational skills, with the ability to meet deadlines and deliver high-quality work.
