Your new role
As an Environmental Health Officer, you will:
Manage an allocated licencing, inspection, and investigation caseload, ensuring all activities are delivered in line with relevant policy, legislation, and to agreed time, cost, and quality standards.
Investigate and respond to complaints, customer requests, and incidents.
Develop reports, legislative, and other correspondence related to licencing, inspections, and complaint investigations, ensuring accuracy and compliance with required standards and timeframes.
Contribute to the planning and delivery of change or continuous improvement projects impacting team service, such as policy, process, or legislative changes.
Work in partnership with Environmental Health Team Leaders and the Environmental Health Services Coordinator to agree on performance standards and mutual expectations.
Give and receive regular feedback to improve performance and take personal responsibility for optimising your potential within the Council.
What you'll need to succeed
Relevant degree qualification in Environmental Health, recognised for eligibility for Membership of Environmental Health Australia.
Knowledge of Queensland's public and environmental health legislation acts.
Effective verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to manage customer expectations and explain processes clearly.
Ability to research, analyse, or investigate issues and write concise professional reports and correspondence.
Proven ability to assess applications, conduct inspections and investigations to produce effective outcomes.
Demonstrated ability to prioritise workloads and manage re-inspections to ensure compliance.
Ability to translate complex information in concise, practical ways to manage customer understanding and expectations.
Proven ability to undertake complex investigations and conduct research to support consistent interpretation of legislation.
