Your new company

Our client is looking for a FinOps specialist with experience in implementation of FinOps tools and ideally, going to market to select a vendor for the implementation of a new FinOps tool. This person will join on an initial 6 month contract as part of a transformation program with a leading government organisation. This role is hybrid working in western / innerwest sydney 3 days a week and 2 from home.

Your new role

Responsible for implementing and managing financial strategies, ensuring cost efficiency, and driving financial accountability across Cloud and SaaS technology services. Through strategic analysis and effective stakeholder collaboration, the Senior ICT Business Analyst (Finance) contributes to the continuous enhancement of business operations and technology solutions.

What you'll need to succeed

• PR at a minimum is required due to the nature of work the government organisation provides
• Demonstrated experience with FinOps in a delivery capacity, ideally FinOps practitioner
• Experience with AWS, Azure or GCP and cloud cost management systems
• Demonstrated understanding of financial principles and practices, particularly in the context of Cloud and SaaS technology services. This includes the ability to manage budgets, forecast financial performance, and implement financial strategies that optimise expenditures and drive cost efficiency.
• In-depth understanding of SaaS license models and thresholds that drive material changes in expenditure including managing relationships with service providers. Proven ability to analyse complex financial data and provide strategic recommendations. This includes interpreting financial reports, identifying trends, and offering insights that support business objectives and drive financial performance.
