Your New Role
As an Ecology Technician, you will play an integral role in supporting the community by:
Leading by example in safety practices and personal accountability.
Collaborating with the leadership team and the community to achieve the Council’s strategic vision.
Undertaking specialist natural area and waterway management, including revegetation, habitat and fire management, water quality monitoring, and wildlife management.
Assisting with environmental projects and educational events, such as National Tree Day, Eco Fiesta, and Clean Up Australia Day.
Operating and maintaining specialised equipment such as aquatic weed harvesters, fire units, and 4x4 vehicles.
Contributing to construction work, including fencing, firebreak construction, and signage erection.
Liaising with community groups and delivering exceptional customer service to enhance environmental education and engagement.
What You'll Need to Succeed
To succeed in this role, you will need:
Certificate III in Conservation and Land Management.
Relevant licences, including a Queensland Manual "C" Class Driver’s Licence, Recreational Boat Licence, and Agricultural Chemical Distribution Control Licence.
Expertise in natural area and waterway management, including revegetation and fire management.
Knowledge of environmental services maintenance practices and procedures.
Demonstrated leadership in workplace safety and compliance.
Proficiency in operating and maintaining specialised equipment.
Strong problem-solving and customer service skills.
Experience driving 4x4 vehicles and reversing with trailers.
