An exciting new opportunity is available for a Security Operations Engineer at a Leading Not for Profit Organization, this is a 6 months FTC position, located in Sydney and offers a dynamic collaborative working environment.
Your new role
You will play a crucial role in monitoring security alerts, analysing incidents, and implementing tools to detect and prevent cyber threats. This involves conducting regular security assessments, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and developing security documentation. Staying updated with the latest cybersecurity trends and providing guidance to IT teams are also key responsibilities. Additionally, you will participate in incident response activities, including containment, eradication, and recovery.
What you'll need to succeed
- Strong understanding of cybersecurity principles and best practices.
- Experience with security tools such as SIEM, IDS/IPS, vulnerability management, and endpoint detection and response (EDR) solutions.
- Strong understanding of Microsoft products, both on-premise (Windows, SCCM, AD, WSUS) and cloud (Office 365, Defender suite, Azure).
- Knowledge of network protocols, architecture, and security technologies.
- Familiarity with industry standards and regulations (e.g., NIST, ISO27001).
- Ability to monitor security alerts and events to identify potential threats and vulnerabilities.
- Skill in analysing security incidents to determine root causes and develop effective response strategies.
- Capability to implement and manage security tools and technologies to detect and prevent cyber threats.
- Experience in conducting regular security assessments and vulnerability analyses to identify system and network weaknesses.
- Competence in developing and maintaining security documentation, including incident response plans and security policies.
- Ability to provide guidance and support to other IT teams on security-related matters.
- Participation in incident response activities, including containment, eradication, and recovery.
