Senior Category Specialist - Civil and Infrastructure Projects

The Senior Category Specialist, reporting to the Procurement Manager, plays a pivotal role in driving and supporting the procurement activities necessary for delivering civil, infrastructure, and maintenance projects across multiple sites.
This position involves leading a team and providing strategic guidance as the Procurement Team transitions to new ways of working. Serving as a senior business partner, the Senior Category Specialist offers expert procurement and contracting support to key internal stakeholders, ensuring all activities align with the organisation’s mission, vision, and values.

Your new role

As the Senior Category Specialist, you will play a critical role in overseeing and optimising procurement activities to support the successful delivery of civil and infrastructure projects across Western Australia. Reporting to the Procurement Manager, you will lead a dedicated team, drive efficiency, and ensure compliance with organisational policies and relevant legislation.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage procurement processes to deliver civil, infrastructure, and maintenance projects effectively.
  • Lead and mentor a team, fostering a collaborative and results-driven environment.
  • Provide expert procurement and contracting advice to internal stakeholders.
  • Develop and implement strategies for tendering, contract management, and compliance.
  • Oversee the preparation and execution of contract documentation.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to define requirements, performance indicators, and benchmarks.
  • Monitor procurement policies and ensure organization-wide adherence.
  • Identify and implement process improvements for efficient and effective procurement services.

What you'll need to succeed

To be considered for this position, you must have the following;
  • Proven experience in the same or similar position
  • Degree Qualification in construction, quantity surveying, business, commerce, or legal
  • Experience leading and mentoring a procurement team to deliver complex capital projects
  • Experience in preparing and drafting complex forms of contract and commercial models supporting civil and infrastructure projects
  • Hands-on experience delivering contract administration support to civil and infrastructure projects
