Our client is a world-leading resources company that produces copper, iron ore, potash and metallurgical coal. They operate in more than 90 locations across the world. Due to expansions and upgrades to their mining villages and accomodation sites in central South Australia, they are entering the design stages and are looking to bring resources that have a major bearing on high level scope of work.
Your new role
The Senior Project Manager will lead the definition and delivery of technology projects. The major focus of this work relates to infrastructure projects (Networking, LAN, WAN, Village Wi-Fi, CCTV Security and Access Control) and the COTS software that will integrate with these systems. Key responsibilities include:
- Engage and collaborate with project stakeholders including the sponsor, business owner, service owner, users, technical SMEs, project team and the support organisation through all stages of the project lifecycle
- Lead the triage of new business requests / initiatives through the high level assessment of scope, solution options, business value and complexity to deliver
- Lead the development of project objectives, requirements and scope
- Lead projects through the project lifecycle, comprising Initiate, Selection, Definition and Execution phases (tailored on a fit-for-purpose basis)
- Manage scope, time and cost as well as project activities and deliverables through each phase
- Lead project stage gate and funding approvals (as required through delivery phases)
- Assign and manage project resources, including internal and external resources / vendor engagements
- Lead procurement activities and contract management for goods and services
- Manage and/or lead (where a Change Lead is not assigned) change management and communications activities and deliverables
- Lead technical change processes including change and release, management of change and transition to support activities
- Manage project risks and issues
- Lead delivery and project team work practices, tailored for project needs
- Lead project governance activities, including working group meetings and status reporting, including monthly financial and portfolio status updates
What you'll need to succeed
It is preferred that the candidate has experience and credentials as follows:
- Project management background in technology infrastructure and operational technology systems (using COTS products and applications)
- Mining and/or industrial experience preferred
- Project Management certification (e.g. Prince2, PMP)
- Tertiary qualification
