We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented individual to join our clients' team as a Trainee Agri-Business Specialist. This is an exciting opportunity for someone with a strong willingness to learn and a keen interest in agricultural business analysis. The role includes training and mentorship, equipping the successful candidate with the skills and experience needed for a future career in agribusiness consulting or agri-finance brokering.
The position will involve analysing farm businesses across a wide geographic area of Australia, covering diverse production systems including livestock, cropping, dairy, horticulture and mixed enterprises. The successful candidate will work closely with senior specialists to assess financial performance, evaluate risks, and provide strategic recommendations to farm businesses.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the analysis of farm business performance, including financial and operational assessments.
- Support the development of business plans, financial models, and investment strategies for agricultural enterprises.
- Research and interpret financial and production data to assist in decision-making.
- Develop an understanding of agribusiness finance, including credit assessment and risk management.
- Work collaboratively with senior consultants and agribusiness finance professionals on client projects.
- Conduct industry research on market trends, commodity pricing, and farm business strategies.
- Help in bringing together finance submissions
- Contribute to reports and presentations for clients and stakeholders.
Key Skills & Attributes
- High level of attention to detail and accuracy in financial analysis and reporting.
- Strong willingness to learn and take on new challenges in agribusiness.
- Basic knowledge of agricultural production systems (livestock, cropping, mixed farming) is advantageous but not essential.
- Solid grounding in financial concepts, including budgets, cash flow analysis, and investment assessment.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- The ability to work effectively in a team environment and take initiative.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
Qualifications & Experience
- Working towards a Diploma in Agribusiness, Finance, Agricultural Economics, Commerce, Accounting, or a related field.
- Some exposure to agricultural business operations is beneficial but not required.
- Experience in financial analysis or business planning (including through study) is an advantage.
