HAYS is seeking a highly motivated Trainee Sales Engineer on behalf of our client, a highly reputed national hydraulic company with operations in both the eastern and western states of Australia. This is an exciting opportunity for a driven professional with the desire to build a career in Hydraulic systems sales and committed to the challenge. The successful candidate will play a vital role in answering customer enquiries, providing quotes and customer solutions, along with some workshop support duties. The aim of the role is to build your confidence, knowledge and expertise in Hydraulic Sales, to become a Hydraulic Sales Engineer.
Your new role
1. Sales & Customer Relationship Management:
- Build and maintain strong relationships with existing customers.
- Identify and develop new business opportunities.
- Understand customer requirements and offer technical solutions in hydraulics and mechanical engineering.
- Meet or exceed sales targets and business goals.
- Conduct product demonstrations and technical presentations.
- Ensure customer satisfaction by addressing enquiries and resolving issues promptly.
2. Technical Expertise:
- Provide engineering solutions and technical support to customers.
- Prepare quotations, proposals, and technical documentation.
- Advise customers on product selection, installation, and maintenance.
3. Team Collaboration:
- Work closely with sales, engineering, technical, and workshop teams to ensure accuracy in sales proposals and specifications.
- Assist in developing sales strategies and providing market trend insights.
4. Store & Logistics Management:
- Receipt, storage, dispatch of materials and products.
- Conduct quality and quantity checks for incoming stock.
- Ensure accurate inventory records and manage logistics for deliveries and pickups.
What you'll need to succeed
- A degree or school certificate in science studies, mechanics or something similar.
- A genuine interest in technical sales and hydraulics.
- Excellent communication skills (verbal and written).
- Goal-oriented mindset with a passion for achieving sales targets.
- Energetic and enthusiastic approach to learning and career growth.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
