A government organisation in Fremantle, are seeking an experienced Work Health and Safety Officer to join the team as soon as possible. This role is being offered on an initial 6-month temporary contract, working full-time hours and paying a competitive hourly rate.
Your new role
As the Work Health and Safety Officer, you will be responsible for:
- Partnering with internal managers and contractors to support work health and safety functions, including visitor safety and risk management.
- Review, report, and investigate hazards, incidents, and near misses, providing advice on corrective actions and risk assessments.
- Inspecting contractor activities for compliance, conducting inductions and safety briefings, and managing health and safety training requirements.
- Drive, monitor, and report on improvement initiatives, conduct research and analysis, and assist in developing business process improvements.
What you'll need to succeed
In order to be considered, you will need:
- Previous experience working as a Workplace Health and Safety Officer, responding to in-office and on-site incidents
- Knowledge of the Work Health and Safety Act 2020
- Proven success in implementing initiatives and driving organisational change.
- Excellent written communication with confidence in report writing
- Excellent interpersonal skills with confidence in liaising with stakeholders around WHS processes
